A performing arts production company dedicated to new work and new writing
- aims to miniaturise larger social problems and themes, reducing them to small dramatic constructs in such a way as to illuminate key contemporary dilemmas.
- is concerned with the inter-relationship between events taking place within the wider social sphere, and the behaviours of individuals acting within a private or domestic context.
Essentially the company is about using text, improvisation and devising-based strategies to create performance, taking time to mature and develop pieces of work perhaps over several years. The company's directors are Chris Johnston and Maggie Gordon-Walker, bringing in other collaborators from across the art form spectrum.
Livestock was formed in 2006. It is currently negotiating to become a charitable company limited by guarantee. Its trustees will be Alex Murray, Marcus Markou, Richmond Trew, Tom Barnes, Rebecca Lewis, Nigel Pilkington, Jeff Thompson and Millie Laws.
