Nov 2012 Brighton Youth Centre

Nov 2013 Brighton College Pre-Prep School & Nursery

The all-day events focused specifically on all the emotional and physical needs of mothers. Attendees attended mini-pamper treatments, yoga & relaxation sessions or art & writing workshops, all included in the ticket price. In addition there was a trade fair for local businesses and services, an advice centre and a crèche. The 2012 event was attended by Mayor Bill Randall, the 2013 event by MP Caroline Lucas.

In 2014 Big Sunday collaborated on an event with the Tree of Life Centre, Hove.   'Christmas came early for mums.'

Big Sunday

.In 2012, Livestock ran a photography competition with a difference. Children are often the subject of photographs. Here the tables were turned and children up to the age of seven took pictures of their parents/carers and sent them to us. From over 200 entries, the best were displayed at The Dome as part of The Children’s Festival, April 2012. The judges included Zoe Ball and Lord Bassam and the prizes included cameras and days out to local attractions.

In addition, the company ran Connected Families, a series of workshops funded by The Big Lottery Fund. These involved participants taking photos of each other in order to share different images of family relationships, which were printed out  to take away.

Capture the Parents
The Naked Truth

The show evolved from interviews conducted by Maggie Gordon-Walker with four mothers in the first Mothers Uncovered discussion groups in 2008. It was performed in The Brighton Fringe 09 directed by Maggie Gordon-Walker and Chris Johnston.

An intimate show that explores the changing landscape of life when the first baby arrives.

'perfectly pitched at its target audience, as attested by the laughter of recognition and various whispers of "I know exactly what she means" floating around the venue.’  Three Weeks

'Your Stories'

directed and scripted by Maggie Gordon-Walker

This show was the result of a group of mothers coming together to write about their experiences as part of The Adult Learning Festival in 2010.  It  was performed at The Tarner Children’s Centre and Jubilee Library.

'Amazing! All mothers should have the opportunity to hear these wonderfully honest, funny & moving voices, thank you’  Caroline Lucas, MP

The company also created 15 min versions of ‘The Naked Truth’ for The Breastfeeding Celebration Event at The Jurys Inn and Health Visitors Development Day.  ‘Naked Truth’ & ‘Your Stories’ are available on cd.
